Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of the Complement System C1q Protein in Schizophrenia
نویسنده
چکیده
Schizophrenia is a complex, multifactor psychiatric disorder. Our previous findings indicated that altered functional activity of the complement system, a major mediator of the immune response, is implicated in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. In the present study single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the complement C1q component were investigated in schizophrenia-affected subjects. For this purpose 103 schizophrenics and 105 healthy controls were genotyped for C1q four SNPs (C1qA rs292001, C1qB rs913243, rs291982 and rs631090) using PCR-SSP and Real-time PCR methods. The data obtained indicate no association of C1qA rs292001, C1qB: rs913243, rs631090 polymophisms with schizophrenia whereas the carriers of the C1qB rs291982*T mutant allele were significantly less frequent in patients when compared to control (62% vs 78%, pnomi-nal=0.012, OR=0.456, 95%CI: 0.53-0.91, pcorrected=0.048). The results of the present study suggest the association of C1qB rs291982 polymorphism with schizophrenia.

Association of Candidate Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Related to Candidate Genes in Patients With Schizophrenia
Introduction: Schizophrenia is a chronic heterogenic neurodevelopment disorder. Many genes interfere in the development of SCZ. All four genes, NrCAM, PRODH, ANK3, and ANKK1, which were evaluated in this study, were previously reported to be associated with Schizophrenia. The NrCAM contributes to creating cognitive deficiencies through the CAM’s signaling pathway. PRODH plays a vital role in cr...
متن کاملThe Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?
Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...
متن کاملFunctional characterization of the complement receptor type 1 and its circulating ligands in patients with schizophrenia
BACKGROUND Whereas the complement system alterations contribute to schizophrenia, complement receptors and regulators are little studied. We investigated complement receptor type 1 (CR1) expression on blood cells, the levels of circulating immune complexes (CIC) containing ligands of CR1, C1q complement protein and fragments of C3 complement protein (C1q-CIC, C3d-CIC), and CR1 C5507G functional...

Objective(s): Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death in both male and female worldwide. The main cause of CAD is the atherosclerosis of coronary arteries, which is, mostly caused by genetic alteration. 50% of such cases occur in mitotic cells where single-strand breaks occur spontaneously or due to ionizing radiation. X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 1 (XRCC1) as a ...
متن کاملSingle Nucleotide Polymorphism Analysis of the Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor IB and Growth and Differentiation Factor 9 Genes in Rayini Goats (Capra hircus)
The FecB, a mutation in the bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB (BMPR-IB) gene, which increases the fecundity of Booroola Merino sheep, and FecGH, a mutation in the Growth and Differentiation Factor 9 (GDF9), which affects the fecundity of Cambridge and Belclare sheep in a dose sensitive manner, were analyzed as candidate genes associated with the prolificacy in Rayini goats. These polymorph...
